Connected Alarms

Modern alarm systems drives demand for sophisticated two way real time communication functionality such as live video transmission and intercom capabilities.

IOT Communications provides the building block for alarm solution providers to accelerate innovation enabling:

  • Integration of voice video and event data
  • Provides analytics information
  • Integration to existing platforms
  • Event triggered real time communication
  • Any communication scenario
  • Scale, security and reliability

Connected Cars

While modern cars are connected to Internet, it is a fragmented world of connectivity and it is not unlikely that the car contains several modems connecting vertical applications. IOT Communications enables car manufacturers to provide more efficient communication solutions and user experiences. For example efficient IP based e-call alarm handling:

1.Car is involved in an accident which is reported to the emergency platform using IP based e-call

2.Emergency platform sends event to car to trigger voice call to be established from car to emergency center

3.Car establish SIP or GSM call with IOT comms platform which place call on queue until and agent is available. Emergency platform get notified with event when call is
placed on queue.

4.When there is an available agent emergency platform send event to IOT comms platform to connect call from queue with agent

Connected Buildings

Connecting smart building drives the need for scalable real time communication services to connect devices with persons. For example surveillance, entry and intercom solutions. For example:

  • Enable tenants to see who is outside door – gives doors eyes and ears
  • Facilitates real time communication with people who wants to enter a building and remote control of entry admission
  • Supports large scale building deployments with large number of doors and many users
  • Targets apartment houses, office and industrial deployments with efficient deployment and provisioning

Connected Elevator

IOT communications platform provides real time voice and video communication connectivity between elevators and service engineers or emergency centers. The call queue function provides functionality to hold the session until a person is available to handle the call.

  • Gives alarm center and remote persons eyes and ears into elevator situation
  • Facilitates real time communication with people inside and outside elevator.
  • Automatic set-up of group communication with video stream
  • Makes elevator meta-data available to alarm handling agent
  • Connected elevator

    Connected Telecare

iotcomms.io enables telecare applications by connecting telecare devices and alarm centers. The SCAIP/CENELEC, SIP or PSTN interfaces combined with the event based APIS provide real-time communication capabilities to alarm platforms.

    1. Elder person press alarm button on connected care unit to get assistance

    2. Unit trigger alarm to health care platform which dispatch this to care agent

3-4. Care agent trigger a voice call over GSM or VoIP as a call-in or call back to alarm center

The IOT communications  platform receive the voice call and  associate it with the original alarm event to allow the care agent to get alarm meta data in conjunction with the call.

    Entrance Systems

Door entry for facilities are up for a big facelift, thanks to IoT!

Innovative consumer oriented doorbell solutions has changed the perception on door entry into villas but changing door entry into commercial facilities and apartment buildings is slightly trickier.  One of the big differences is the need to support large scale building deployments with large number of doors, multiple users and multiple different entry systems from various manufacturers currently installed.

In most situations today, door entry into commercial and apartment buildings are through entry systems that are not connected to Internet or based on analogue connections from the system to the tenant. With modern technology and IOT this is up for a change, and real time communication is crucial.

Drivers for real time enabling your door entry:

    • Increased security
    • Data analytics of entrance
    • Enable delivery entrance for alarm or delivery companies
    • Ability to open door when not at home

In many cases the door entry will be through IP-enabled intercom systems that allow smarter opportunities for entry. Some suppliers of intercom today provide proprietary systems for their individual intercom.

We at IOT Communications have developed a platform enabling development of IP based intercom systems that scales for multiple buildings, multiple users and multiple door entry systems that enables video communication from intercoms to mobile phones via via ordinary call, to mobile apps or web browsers via WebRTC.

IOT Devices with video and WebRTC

This video demonstrates an alarm application deployed on a Raspberry Pi using the real time video SDK and APIs that securely connects with a WebRTC browser via the iotcomms.io platform when the alarm button is pressed. This allow an operator to see the surveillance video from the attached camera.

    Connected machinery

This use case improves efficiency by avoiding sending a human to false alarms. If a connected machine generates an alarm a human may establish a real time audio and video connection to assess the situation before spending time to get there in person.

    A use case example is:

    1. Machinery in manufacturing plant reports values exceeding thresholds via MQTT which trigger alarm to operator.

    2. Operator trigger a video call via the IOT communication APIs to be established with the integrated video surveillance camera in the machine to allow to see and hear the state of the alarming machinery.

The IOT Communications platform allow the monitoring platform to easily connect video call with the alarming device using the MQTT API and associate the call with the corresponding alarm for display to the operator
